      Like I get the idea: stop thinking that there's a magical vat of racism that We As A Culture are draining and when the vat of racism is empty poof racism over. Or in simpler (corrupted?) terms: stay woke, bc racism, like all ideologies, adapts.

      But I always think it's important to recognize the work that our ancestors and forbearers put in to make things better. US anti-black racism has declined in the sense that the present configuration of racist institutions/structures is less crushing than previous configurations.

      And to further define "less crushing" I actually am not saying that there are 0 black folks in America today made more miserable by racism in 2018 (or in 1988) than in 1618. I think that's untrue.

      But as a whole, there are more black folks living freer lives under the present configuration of racist institutions than under previous configurations, even though the present configuration is of course an adaptation to prevailing norms.
