How do leaders in a diverse country celebrate someone like Billy Graham who was such a blessing to so many, and yet, perpetuated harm against other folks (I'm thinking of queer ppl in particular but others well) who are just as valid and important?
Of course, the corollary requires us to tackle the ethical question head-on: do we append a similar nuance to our celebration of a queer hero despite the fact that many Americans see queer heroes in a negative light?

I suppose if I looked back at, say, Margaret Sanger's obit, I would probably see that attempt to balance celebrating her work against the many complaints about her, valid and invalid.
