I still don't understand how y'all let the Groundhog Day musical die. It had a great score, a composer's follow up to a big hit, an incredible star turn, recognizable title/source material, and a rave in the New York Times!! And yet it closed in 180 performances. How?
Also honestly, what was the audience? It isn't kid-friendly, but there's no sexy guy or progressive/acceptance hook. So it's basically a musical comedy for straight guys. And those five words probably encapsulate why it didn't sell!

Although Dirty Rotten Scoundrels sold... but it was full of Names and seems less straight guy than GD. Phil Conners is more of a Regular Normal Straight White Guy whereas Freddy is a zany, which maybe plays better... I dunno!
