Sometimes all the things are true. The tweet was dumb; the response disproportionate. The hurt had a history; the defense was elitist but also clumsy, panicky. People get scared of saying the wrong thing. (Maybe they should.) Twitter makes it all feel like shouting thru straws.

Re Lipton, not a reporter or anyone really but had reaction kinda similar to his: kids in red FL, in the county of hanging chads, could be so articulate, bright and insightful. Didn’t know how to say it w/o sounding like a jerk so didn’t. He did. *shrug*

Just praise the survivors that have spoken out, and then say it's a reminder of all the potential their classmates had stolen from them. The implicit comparison to other, less "articulate" kids is the problem (a "greater" always implies a "less," right?) not the observation.
