Sometimes all the things are true. The tweet was dumb; the response disproportionate. The hurt had a history; the defense was elitist but also clumsy, panicky. People get scared of saying the wrong thing. (Maybe they should.) Twitter makes it all feel like shouting thru straws.

I was intrigued by how he initially appeared to be acknowledging he'd spoken "insensitively" but misspelled it, and then by the time he followed up he'd lost his resolve to own it?
