Radical minority ideas can be excluded from the mainstream discourse bc not very many people believe them.
The reason hateful takes can't be excised from the discourse altogether, under a liberal framework, is that too many ppl believe them.

That's not giving liberals enough credit. Liberalism is more like "might doesn't make quite as much right." Better than nothing.
