"but you wouldn't be okay with a racist Democrat being elected." Um, actually I would. When the party was captured by racists, no. But now? When it's pretty hard for the party to pass overtly racist legislation? If I get racist votes to go to an anti-racist speaker that's a win.
It annoys me when people complain about politicians that are reflecting their districts. You want Democrats to run progressives in places where the electorate is... not progressive? Do you... know how the House of Representatives works? The so-called Hastert Rule?

Like this to me is a version of hating on Mancin, which from a pragmatic standpoint is like... astonishingly stupid. He votes with Dems consistently on the close votes, he caucuses with Dems in determining control of the chamber, he hurts little and helps a ton.

I understand those who have no interest in building power within the state democratic framework, but for those of us who DO operate in that paradigm, this kind of thing is outright necessary.
