Still, it might have been nice to try out a wonkery presidency under HRC. That was Barack’s preferred policy posture, but policy-as-lifehack was more a posture he affected than a key feature of his outlook. I think Hillary actually believed it.
Sigh. It’s easy to be a sort of life-hack-y, technocratic policy type bc when you study issues, there are a lot of minor policy changes that have had enormous effects. But as long as power is distributed so unevenly, all the great wonkery is likely to get undone, I think.

And honestly she would have faced even greater Republican backlash than he did, because she was so much less personally popular. But I suppose you could use the bully pulpit + administrative state in lieu of actual legislation.
