OK so a lot of black communities are more tight-knit geographical/social circles than the more atomized, "ticky-tacky" house type lives wealthier and whiter people live, right?

But if you're fully embedded in a community? All of a sudden it's everybody knows about both of y'all's dating and sexual and personal histories and body counts and who's getting clowned in the streets over what we all knew about your man or your girl or whatever.

and of COURSE this always redounds to the benefit of cishet men and the detriment of women/femmes bc cishet patriarchy.

And there are other problems, arguably bigger problems, with the sexual culture of the modern atomized lifestyle. But that particular one re: the social function of your romantic partner is easier, I think.
