I don't think that's a weakness that is somehow unique to white evangelicals. I think the lust for white supremacy is unique to white evangelicals, and I think the obsession with a violent masculinity is perhaps unique to American Christianity.
But that basic willingness to put culture over ethics, us over them, my comfort over your needs, my ideology over your life? That's been with us since the Pharisees and long, long before. And we can all fall into it if we're not careful.
That said, that's no excuse for white evangelical christians not to take a serious look around at how Beyonce and Jay-Z have a more serious ethical response to marital infidelity than a church that dares to put the name of Jesus Christ on its doors.
