Idk why Octavia Spencer got a nod for Shape of Water. She is phenomenal, of course, but that role was underwritten and didn't give her that much to do. Imo, to be totally real I would sub in homegirl from Get Out.

HOWEVER ALL HAIL THE MOTHERFUCKING OSCAR NOMINATED QUEEN MARY!! Now just stroll down to Broadway and collect your Tony (not for a musical we stan a legend but her voice ain't built for eight shows a week) and we can get this EGOT popping!

Also really glad to see Director and Screenplay nods for Lady Bird and Get Out. It would have been easy, even in 2018, to snub these talented not-white-men, but their work was CLEARLY among the best writing and directing of the year.

But I'm sure the Oscars will disappoint the fuck out of me by giving it to Martin McDonaugh and then I'll have to turn off the TV and walk away angrily.

Really, really excited to see Best Actor. Feels like a tight race this year. Of course Daniel and Denzel are longer shots but I could genuinely see anyone in the category taking it.

Also sigh. Saoirse is gonna be that actress that gets nominated for like every movie as a young actress, never wins, then gets a "sorry about all those other movies you should have won for" Oscar for a film that's not her best work down the line *cough cough Denzel cough cough*.

Disaster Artist I'm sure is a lovely film but if CMBYN doesn't win Adapted Screenplay I'm gonna punch someone in the face. I guessssssss if Mudbound wins I will also find that acceptable. But I want CMBYN.
