The film was racist bc it was profoundly uninterested in black people and black suffering, but used black people as props.
We were there to indicate the ethical status of white characters, but ultimately their moral growth required no reckoning with blackness.

Also the only person that goes to jail in the whole movie is a black person, for weed, despite EVERYTHING else that happens.
