A) racism is a very powerful force in electoral politics and B) we had a black president who was not terribly interested in building a party that could staunch the losses stemming from (A), C) the President's party always loses grounds in midterms

and perhaps D) Our Constitution gives some political power to land itself, and SURPRISE the less-white Democratic coalition covers less land area. I WONDER why on EARTH that might be??

This to me is a far better explanation for the Democratic party's electoral defeats from 2010-2016 than "Democrats are inherently incompetent and are much worse at doing elections than Republicans."

Also, idk, when you are the less-racist, less-sexist, less-anti-LGBTQ party in a very racist, very sexist, very anti-LGBTQ country, maybe you have a little bit of an uphill battle to win elections???

But seriously, besides Breitbart, who does this "Democrats are failures at everything" narrative serve? People who want radical change from the Democratic party? Is saying the party is bad at everything an effective way to bring that about?

And where is the electoral evidence that the changes people want are not only ethical---almost all policy changes are, though procedural changes are questionable---but that they actually win more votes---evidence is inconclusive at best.
