I really wish somebody would get up and debate an anti-abortion Christian on biblical grounds, bc there is zero support in the Bible for fetal personhood. None.

I think there's a good argument from the Bible for a "culture of life" sort of thing, but that could encompass all KINDS of things, almost all of which we have zero interest in mandating.

So I want to see someone engage on fetal personhood on Biblical grounds, but I also want to know: where are the pro-life people who even PRETEND to care about whether or not the government should have control of women's bodies?

I mean these people claim to be conservatives? But they want the government to force women to grow and entire person inside their body? What?

Of all the political issues, honestly, abortion is the one that it took me the longest to come around on. But once I found out like 50% of fertilized eggs don't implant in the womb, "life begins at conception" became a patently ridiculous position.

and then when I found out that the OT doesn't provide the same punishment for injuring a pregnant woman and causing a miscarriage vs injuring a pregnant woman and causing the woman to die? That was a wrap for me.

You always wanna drag your people along to your side, right? And a lot of the people I grew up with are white evangelicals and I just really hope that they WANT to do right, but abortion is this stumbling block that causes them to vote for Donald Trumps and Roy Moores.

And I just think... if we actually had a debate around this, rather than dogma, maybe that would free up the possibility for some of them of coming around to, you know, having any interest in justice being down through our electoral politics.
