Hmmmm those spending overrides looked like they saved lives to me. And the only example I could find of Baker vetoing something besides budget and pay raises was something about Lyme disease that the state leg DID override. What am I missing?https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2016/08/01/legislature-orders-insurers-cover-long-term-lyme-treatment-overriding-baker-veto/YBZ3DGaUy8bHRWMYaOyQdM/story.html …

I mean. I would assume the governor acquiesces to a fair number of things because he knows he'll lose. In that case, the veto power is more of a PR tool. So you veto budget items to signal Fiscal Responsibility bc that seems like a winner, but maybe not popular legislation.

But again, I don't know MA politics that well, maybe the legislature isn't passing anything good. Certainly I don't see a push in MA for single-payer, although I assume that's bc the majority are happy with RomneyCare/MassHealth.

(Not that that's a good thing necessarily. May be an example of where satisfying most of the middle/lower middle class aligns their interests with the rich rather than the most vulnerable. Or it may genuinely be providing good coverage even to really poor people. Idk!)
