I just don't see where the solution for that is "let's spend more of our emotional energy on men especially when we're discussing a work by a woman that purports to tell us about the female experience."

and I get your point is that it's not about the systemic problem it's about the individuals and sometimes it really sucks for male individuals and I just... that's logic I had to dump way back when for obvious reasons.

and the argument for why we don't center that POV is like I said, privilege already inclines us towards focusing more on the dude and his pain, so if our conscious minds say "focus more on the woman and her pain" it actually evens out!
