Points to a central problem: In the struggle for justice, we often ban a given tactic of oppression, because we can't get at the oppression itself. And then when the privileged have that tactic used against them, they very reasonably say, "I thought that was against the rules!!"
But I think that goes back to privilege = responsibility. It's your responsibility to hear them say the mean words about you and instead of thinking I'M SO HURT AND OFFENDED, say, wow, is it really like this for y'all all the time?
And that's not "fair" if you evaluate everything in a flat, context-free ethic? But if you have a properly contextualized ethic, it is the LEAST you can do, you know?
