One of the many consequences of housing segregation is that ppl who occupy positions of power rarely exist in any proximity to poverty. If more people knew first-hand how inexplicably horrible poverty is then I wonder how different our politics might look.
I mean, yes but tbh I lived in the hood for most of my childhood (so very close physical proximity to poverty) but bc I went to private school I almost never encountered poverty. I had closer experience of poverty via family than bc of my neighborhood.
