I hope the people who said Hillary and Trump were two sides of the same coin realize that their political analysis was woefully off during the election.
Oh yeah, Paris agreement DEFINITELY doesn't do enough. But the reason "enough" doesn't happen is political opposition, not Democratic unwillingness.

Like the reason we don't have a public option isn't because "Democrats" are against a public option, or even a broader healthcare push. It's because 40 Republicans and 1 Joe Lieberman couldn't even get as far as a public option in 2009/2010.

I don't know enough about the Dodd-Frank process to say for sure why we didn't push farther on that but my hunch is that it is half political opposition and half Obama being squeamish about making bold economic moves in the middle of a crisis.
