And I'm not just going to reflexively assume "Gaddafi was better than this." I'm just going to say that we are too arrogant and too laser-focused on things being done our way to intervene anywhere without MAJOR repercussions.
This situation in Libya is a reminder that we need to stop fetishizing Western society and assuming that any nation taking any step in any way towards a society that looks more like ours is to be achieved at any cost.

We are in desperate need of a total reorientation of our thinking about a) how and why nations intervene in each others' affairs, b) how and why nations improve politically and c) what "improving" politically even looks like, given how much we have to hide to claim we're so great
