^^^^this. And issues means good issues and bad issues. People left out of progress and people resentful of it. The establishment appeared to have more or less agreed to an extremely gradual transition to a pluralistic multicultural society, which satisfies neither camp.
to say nothing of the question of whether or not that multicultural society would be even more class-stratified than the one that exists at present.
