Rap is the only genre of popular music that's good right now. Rock is dead, electronica got a lobotomy and became "EDM", pop is in a slump, and country was never very good. But rap is better now than it's ever been.

Also I would argue Neo-Soul never really panned out like we thought it would in the late 90s/early 2000s, but Jill Scott's latest album was quite good and of course D'Angelo's was on point. But also very much Grown People Music, not pop at all.
