Well, I guess I think of this slightly different than he does. But I think his fundamental insight - that integrating institutions create identity that cuts across racial lines - is really key to our problems here in America.
like I said, what you ultimately argued was imo better than this article. I'm not a huge fan of yours either, but "make people cooperate across racial lines" is better than "white folks are never going to be colorblind if you keep reminding them abt race."

Remember that Heath is Canadian, and his country doesn't have the racial history ours does. I've found that Canadians tend to have a big blind spot regarding the U.S. Civil War, the Confederacy, slavery, civil rights, segregation, etc.

However, I think Canada has been better about immigration than we have in recent years, and I generally now prefer the Canadian perspective on immigration to ours.
