When marginalized groups attempt to seize power, power's final means of resisting that seizure is to say "yes, you can have this power, but only if you can prove it will not be misused."
This does not mean that all critique of marginalized people who behave badly are verboten, or even that critique of the structures and institutions and logics empowering black people are impermissible or counter-revolutionary.

But it does mean those critiques should only be undertaken after a very serious and sincere and thorough self-examination to do the utmost to rid our critique of the reverse-golden-rule panic: "oh no, they're going to treat us like we treated them!"

And even marginalized people and their allies can be susceptible to that panic, because we've all grown up in worlds that teach us to love our oppressors more than ourselves. This is another way of resisting that conditioning.
