Because I am fundamentally opposed to violence, not merely from a "eww gross scary" place, but because human beings are not adequate to visit justice on the unrighteous.
The violent revolution commies are admirable to me because they have a morally adequate response to constructed, manmade human suffering. However, I could never support that line.

We are never good enough or holy enough. Violence always activates our worst impulses. We arrive with the intention of meting justice for the oppressed against their oppressors, but by the time we leave we are always in hate.

And more importantly: how dare we choose vengeance when we are deserving of vengeance ourselves? How dare we choose vengeance when God Himself has chosen mercy?
