Ugh I know I shouldn't go on about the stupid primary but here's the deal: Bernie on the ticket would not have produced a Democratic wave in the House or the Senate.

Which means we'd have a revolutionary President... presiding over divided government. And if that was tough for Obama after 2 years of united government + supermajorities, IMAGINE what it'd be like for Bernie.

and like, no, he would not have done well in the 2018 midterms bc the President's party NEVER does well in the midterms. The only recent exception is literal actual 9/11 the worst attack on US soil in at least a century.

Okay, now I am going to shut up about this and I hope this doesn't appear on anybody's TL bc lord knows everyone needs to shut up about 2016 but like damn if black women pick a candidate take that fucking candidate seriously it is a good practice.

and like idk bernie MIGHT have won and sure anything is better than Donald but if you look at it as "Trump is likely to lose but Dems are unlikely to regain the House and Senate"... Hillary is a pretty logical option. Maybe not ideal, but logical.

and also like... if you're looking at it and it's coming out as a wash in your logical objective calculation then 100% you go for the woman. I know we all hate identity politics (which is wrong btw) but surely we can agree "if it's a wash, vote for the first female President."

(oh also hating identity politics is wrong. Identity politics at root is simply intellectual humility, and the assumption that your EXPERIENCE of a given social position is as valuable as my ANALYSIS of that social position in qualifying us for leadership positions.)
