What if critiquing "the left" about identity issues is sometimes The Evil Hand of Capital & sometimes a legitimate "hey don't forget me!"

Like the reality is we spent the last eight years trying to move mainstream Dems on these issues. And like... in large part it worked!

the turnaround in Dem positions on, say, mass incarceration is at LEAST as remarkable and dramatic as the turnaround on single-payer.

ditto for marriage equality, trans rights, etc. And a lot of it is ppl just looking at leftists like "um. I don't know you."

Or worse, like "oh look, some more straight white men I gotta educate. I might as well stick with the ones I already fixed!"

And sure the critique feels unfair to many leftists but at the end of the day if you're organizing electorally (not all leftists are)...

you're asking for ppl's votes. It's on you to prove they can trust you with that. And if you know capital is going to come at you well...
