There is also the Catholic notion of sin where you have done something and are impure and cannot take communion or enter heaven without seeking absolution, which is kind of how white people treat Ta-Nehisi Coates like the pope of racism, and seek his absolution.
Shrug. I think they treat him like a physician who might have an accurate diagnosis. He keeps refusing to offer them a cure.

IDK, I think white people want to be assured that they are one of the good ones and have Coates prescribe 7 Hail Marys and an Our Father and then racism becomes a problem those other people create.
