It is, to large extent, about the majoritarian feeling: I am the mainstream, I am the we, we are powerful and we will win!
And we need to recognize that in large part it is the ability to create this feeling, moreso than an "economic message"...
That differentiates Hillary Clinton, Bush (both), Gore, etc., from Bill Clinton, Sanders, Trump. Obama.
