      An analogy is income taxes. GOP cuts them, Dems raise them. But the fact that we HAVE income taxes makes the whole country better.

      For sure. But leaving that hole open for people to get screwed will provoke anger from the left, and the left is where the UHC energy is.

      Energy is great, but energy can support bad policy. A bad health care system could lock us into exploding costs we couldn't escape.

      If activists push for a British-style system, it could help exert the necessary pressure to get us a Japan-style system as a compromise.

      Interesting. With the existing R party, I don't see how UHC happens w\o an ACA style Dem supermajority, which I think is the Bernie plan.

      The median health care politician is probably more like Nancy Pelosi. Movement conservatives hate govt health care more than Trump does.

      I just don't see where we're in a scenario where UHC is possible but there are also sufficient centrist Ds or Rs to go with a compromise.
