I think "all white people are racist" means "all white people have done things that perpetuate racial oppression." (5/x)

And yeah. I can maaaaaaybe think of 1 white person I know who rarely if ever does things that perpetuate racial oppression (6/x)

So if my experience has been 99% of white people do things that perpetuate racial oppression, in big ways or small, I should shut up (7/x)

about that for fear of how more virulent racists might respond? I guess it's OK to make that argument but I wish ppl understood (8/x)

In my experience most of people making that argument - myself among them - do so for utilitarian reasons, not for erasure of experience.

I know. A lot of you have good intentions. And addressing a diverse audience (conservative or just skeptical whites firmly included!) (1/x)

Is really really hard! But liberals will have to learn to speak to diversity. The future of liberalism, if not America, depends on it.
