And we need to think seriously about what cultural identity means to those people. White American culture, White Southern culture, etc.

But yes, Black American/Afro-Caribbean culture is a specific culture. There are of course black folks whose people weren't slaves...

or at least weren't American slaves. Their family immigrated to the US more recently. But usually they integrate into black American culture
