No. Metrics are always created by humans. Humans are always susceptible to bias. "Metrics" don't just exist out in nature or something.

No, an organic chemist must meet a specific set of metrics to be hired. We're talking about jobs. The job determines the metric.

Let alone a desireable one. And even then, there are people who could do the work, who don't have the objective metric (science degree).

My point is, objective metrics are never flush with reality. They never fit perfect. And that subjectivity creates a LOT of room for bias.
