it would be inhumane to perform some experiment that messed with girls' brains to make them "think like boys" from birth, right?

So we're never really going to be able to directly test the "girls have girl brains; boys have boy brains" theory...

because we can't isolate the variable. We can't hold nurture constant while changing nature. Changing nature will change nurture.

However, we do have the opportunity to do an "experiment" in changing nurture. You could think of feminism at its core as such an experiment

If we change how our culture treats women, even beginning with little girls, even as early as birth, will that change outcomes?

And to give a bit of a "soft sell" on feminism: isn't that experiment worth trying? If women are biologically doomed to less pay...

less wealth, less power, then fine, let's hang our heads and go home. But if we can get women better pay, more wealth, and more power...

just by changing our behavior towards women, well... isn't that a risk worth taking? Given how huge the benefits could be?
