Or in more welcoming terms: the hope that we will be willing to act as neighbors once we are no longer trying to extinguish each other.
Liberals want their culture to supplant conservatives. Conservatives want liberals resume their cultural positions circa 1950 or 1980.

Solution: agree on basics, let you have your culture over there, let us have our culture over here, and have multicult norms in public/work.
