but seriously, the core argument here is the important bit: aside from all truth or falsity of this memo (its assertions are false)...

the memo makes it harder for employees all over the company to do their jobs, regardless of gender. It is therefore bad employee behavior.

not because of any abstract rule or diversity initiative or whatever but because you're hurting the ability of the team to do the work.

and I like this kind of argument because it begins by assuming the power and value of the group that is being denigrated...

rather than beginning with an appeal to abstract principles. We should embrace more and more arguments like this.
