it's not just bad because it represents the typical process of coalition partners selling each other out in pursuit of votes...
that diverge sharply from the people, cultures, institutions, and ideas that were in power in the 50s and 60s.

When you have power and the attendant material wealth and I don't, obviously I assimilate to you, at whatever cost to me (if you let me).
