I agree but that is also a rhetorical minefield. If he has gotten some black colleagues to stump for him that might have moved the needle.
But when it comes directly from the campaign "I marched with Dr. King" sadly doesn't count for much.

Who now embrace the "colorblind" racism, also have "I did the right thing during the Movement" type stories.
