but see, don't you think it would be valuable to go one step further and ask why blk ppl tend not to go that way?

could it be we don't have the same traditions or knowledge? Could it be we are not encouraged to go those routes?

could it be we don't think of ourselves as potential officers

could it be that we have a history of great pilots---my great uncle was a Tuskegee airman---

but not a history of great generals and leaders (Colin Powell excepted)

and of course, the reason we don't have that history of generals and leaders---if that is indeed the case---

is because we didn't have the opportunity to become generals and leaders until relatively recently.
