      also we should note that among forms of slavery historically, the ones in the West (American chattel slavery + human trafficking)

      have been among the very worst forms of slavery in world history. In many societies slaves could reasonably purchase freedom.

      or slavery wasn't heritable, or CERTAINLY the child of free + slave was not automatically a slave.

      or slaves were allowed to keep language/culture because all slaves came at once from one conquered territory, etc.

          also the middle passage was unique to the transcontinental slave trade and was a human rights atrocity.
