I am going to finish this article but his little preamble has absolutely made my blood boil. For the record, any analysis of Democrats electoral situation in the past 8 years that does not address the significant roles of race and racism, sex and sexism is, you guessed it, racist and sexist.

Takes like “Obama didn’t do enough stimulus and that’s why Dems got crushed in ‘10” at BEST accept racism as a structural feature of American life we are all obligated to just work around. Corporate power? Legislate it away. Racist power? Eh! Whaddya gonna do?

I can absolutely fully get with the idea that we need a shift in strategy around anti-racism, that too many gains since the 70s have gone to 20-30% of blacks leaving 70-80% maybe even worse off than before. I can get with “we need more focus on money and corporate power.”

I can get with “the default position should be deficit spending until you reach full employment,” though I have questions as to wtf “full employment” means in a mass incarceration society.

I cannot get with any narrative of Barack Obama’s presidency or Donald Trump’s rise or fucking American political history that does not center race and racism. Cannot, will not, and will do my best to fight against it and anybody who espouses it.
