I just feel like people misunderstand the whole concept of why diversifying power matters. It is not bc the black people with power are going to start the revolution or always enact their (or our) values.
It is because structural and institutional racism is made up of a billion tiny decisions, many of them unconscious. Having more diversity in power, while it does threaten aspects of the radical agenda, has the potential to reduce the number of those billion bad, racist decisions.
In other words: Roseanne getting revived? Would have happened with or without a black woman in charge. That blackish ep getting shelves? Ditto. Roseanne getting cancelled? Might not have. And that is worth something.
