Based on America's history, we should have gotten our collective hackles up the moment we heard John Kelly basically say *shrug emoji* when asked where the children are going. A lesson for us to internalize. Remember what the country is capable of wrt dehumanizing kids.
That's a lesson for me too. I'll admit at first when everybody was commenting on this story talking about all the Black and Native children separated from families my attitude was like "yes totally true totally real but we should focus on this crisis, no?"
But the reason they were sharing all that wasn't just a like "keep that same energy" type dig. It was a "y'all forgot your history and now are repeating it," type dig. Which also tells us: if this policy is not reversed and dismantled, it WILL get worse.
