    Anyway, The fix is simple - delete the auto-forward - but distinctly non-obvious. This a risk I haven't seen widely emphasized, while 'Change your passwords' is still the main message, one defeated for a large number of sites by auto-forwarding. 6/

    Auto-forward disables password resets. Change your Gmail password 10 times, and the attacker still gets all your mail. And any site that is like "Forgot password? No problemo! We'll mail you a new one!" is hijackable for as long as the forwarding is in place. 4/

    Auto-forward is three clicks deep in Gmail: 'Settings->See All Settings->Forwarding and POP/IMAP.' Having those last two acronyms is like labeling a link "Authorized Personnel Only" -- no ordinary user thinks "Oh, POP and IMAP, we go way back." 3/

    The phishing email was "I'm from Amazon, and I need to talk with you, please call me." ('Call me' evades the phone's spam detection.) My friend gave up their Gmail login, at which point the attacker set up an auto-mail forward to 'spprt.amz1022@gmail.com' 2/

    A friend of mine was phished. While helping reverse the damage, I found a simple but dreadful mail-forwarding technique I don't know the name of. I hope someone can point me towards the name of the attack, risks, and any counter-measures. 1/

    Lots of stuff to chew on here. One thing that jumps out the most is the idea that polls more accurately predicted the outcome *last year* than in the period during Covid, because Dem voters were more likely to be home and answering polling calls.

    Question about all the "white men moved a little away from Trump/errybody else a little towards" demographic takes: Are the exit polls like *exit poll* exit polls, like people who'd just left the polling place? Or do they account for the 100,000,000 mail in votes somehow?
