So, here's the thing:
The City/County of San Francisco has had decades to get TF over itself, and realize the whole city needed to be zoned for ~ 5-12 stories to accommodate all the housing it actually needs.
Oh, but San Francisco is *so very precious*

There's a pretty simple test of whether people are taking climate change seriously and it's whether or not they support building this tower and many more like it in SF's westside.
Quote Tweet
A developer wants to build a 55-story skyscraper on the historically low-rise westside. The plan promptly drew opposition from S.F. officials.
Now we have an idea of what the proposed condo tower would look like. What do you think?

HOUSING SOLUTIONS ARE SPRAWL SOLUTIONS
To protect WA's rural areas, farmland, and forested places, we must take steps to reduce development pressure to sprawl--by allowing middle housing options in existing urban footprints.

“Good insurance” already produces this kind of rationing, as well as routine denials of care, extra costs, and more. The only people who will be worse off under Medicare for All are insurance execs.
Quote Tweet
I think Bernie knows deep down that if people, particularly middle-class people who currently have good insurance, were suddenly overnight subject to the kind of rationing single-payer systems in other countries currently have, they'd riot and it would never get off the ground.

We love to see this profile of 's frequent transit ridership. Seattle makes it easier than many cities to get around via transit -- but it needs to be even easier, with more service needed.

Only one vote in the House today against concurring on amendments to HB 1293, which streamlines design review processes and only allows cities to require one public design review meeting as a condition of approval.

KING 5's resident far-left activist Cornelius Hocker put an activist student in a *news* package about the "assault weapons" ban who says that if the unconstitutional bill is challenged it means we think "students should be killed in school."
The package has NO opposing views.

None of this is journalism. It's advocacy. They're running press releases and it does a disservice to the community. There are thousands of people who only get their news from single sources. KING 5 fails them -- intentionally.

HOUSING SOLUTIONS ARE HOMELESSNESS SOLUTIONS!
Allowing more homes in cities is critical for reducing homelessness.
Research shows that the strongest predictors of homelessness are high rents and low vacancy-hallmarks of a shortage.

Clarence Thomas must resign or be impeached.

Harlan Crow didn’t just buy Clarence Thomas’s childhood home.
Thomas’s mother still lived there! Crow spent tens of thousands of dollars renovating it—and purchased adjacent property to increase the value of the neighborhood. propublica.org/article/claren

The FDA/mife case is already being posed as a "presidential election issue."
Past history tells us Dems will gladly leave us in crisis to use this for the election instead of taking bold action.
I know from experience how this works. The time to demand action by Dems is now.

Meanwhile, Dems are sacrificing power -- specifically the power to seat federal judges -- in the name of the principle that doddering septuagenarians have the right to cling to their cozy Senate seats until they literally fall over dead. They fucking *love* sacrificing power.

A non-serving senator being defended by the party that needs her vote. Simultaneously, a flagrantly corrupt justice being mostly ignored by that same party, which deplores his votes. What better illustration could you have that the main Dem problem is lethargic status quoism?

A profound generational divide is Boomers came of age when education and houses were cheap but homegoods were expensive, and they now don't get why their kids aren't grateful for the furniture and tchotchkes they keep trying to pass down, when kids are renting 600ft apartments.*

In the debate over the CID station locations one point we made at was the importance of upzoning at other stations, as smart policy for housing & climate as well as a way to protect CID and other areas from displacement pressure. NE 130th needs a major upzone.

At Sound Transit, Kenmore elected David Baker is blasting Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell for the lack of urban zoning around the NE 130th Street station. He’s asking the urgency of opening the station when there is no urgency by Harrell to rezone.
