As someone born and raised in South Georgia, yet chose not to attend Georgia Southern, I’m sorry that you experienced that. Truthfully, that invite would’ve been more productive coming from UGA, Kennesaw State or GSU as in Georgia STATE University.

A lot of students at GSU (southern) are disgusted by this. Sadly, our university has it’s bad parts. We who are disgusted are taking steps to try make our university a place where everyone feels safe and where actions like this aren’t tolerated

I was struck by the parallel to the encounter you describe in My Time Among the Whites. You are helping bring a better understanding ... particularly about how far we are from even recognizing white privilege, much less bringing any meaningful change.
