    So this evening we're having a meetup at the Redis Labs office in Mountain View where I'll live code a Redis client in Python from scratch. We have 139 RSVPs ATM. That's a lot of people that will be disappointed when I say I don't use VIM :)

    After being forced to install the United app and being asked to grant every permission under the sun (including BT! See attach.), I'm now watching the onboard safety video and it's full of completely unrelated Star Wars references. United should rename itself to Boomer Airlines.

    3h in, isn't yet able to build Tensorflow on Windows. I understand wanting to make a point, but trying to fix C++ templates inside of LLVM doesn't really seem rational. That code must build for some specific version of the tools, it's a matter of finding them.

    The cloud is not so awsome.

    I can think at two main potential reasons. 1) The cloud changed the way people think at building software, cloud vendors have a lot of power and are trying to make developers just compose services with what they offer. This does not stimulate new inventions.

    I've always been convinced that Facebook bought WhatsApp with the sole intention of stifling its growth to ensure people don't abandon Messenger. I've been using for years now and since apparently your data gets stolen anyway, at least I've been enjoying a proper UX.

    It's interesting to see how vendors that sell frontend libraries don't even mention the word Javascript anymore and instead claim they support React/Angular/etc just like mobile apps advertise support for Android and/or iOS

    But I do recommend to watch the session when it comes to YouTube. They show how to interoperate with Go so you can judge for yourself. Also the speakers are currently wrestling with go fmt lmao.
