We knew that children wtih unilateral CP show different corticospinal tract wiring patterns and that this is the main determinant of hand function. Here we investigated if sensorimotor functional connectivity measures at rest was related to the wiring pattern and hand function.

We found that aberrant sensorimotor functional connectivity seemed to be dependent on the corticospinal tract wiring pattern rather than specific from all the unilateral CP population (as compared to healthy children)

This was specially true for the connectivity between M1 and the premotor cortices and somatosensory association areas in the dominant (i.e. non-lesioned) hemisphere. Nevertheless, these differences did not have an impact on behavioral measures.
