Even in 1940 a total French collapse in the face of a resurrected German Army seemed unlikely. In 1933 it seemed impossible.
Arguing that U.S. should take in every single German Jew even when other countries were available would never have won support.

@crimkadid Well, such a suggestion did not win support, as I've shown here through numerous polls. And those opinions had consequences. -
In retrospect we know we should have taken them in. The majority was wrong, as it frequently is. Lesson for today.
