It's always struck me that there are fewer Jewish historians than you would expect from their preponderance in other types of writing, especially journalism. When a historical subject is interesting to them (say, civil rights) they dominate it, but ancient history: who cares?

That's a bit of a non sequitur. Ancient history is not remotely the same thing as fantasy or counterfactual history. I'm very interested in the former and not at all in the latter.
